To assist you with your diagramming, IriusRisk provides a powerful feature that allows you to access essential information effortlessly. In this article, we'll guide you through the process of maximizing your diagram creation ability by understanding components and trust zones with tooltips.

Viewing Component Descriptions and Risk Patterns

For Components in the Palette

1. Access the Component Palette: Begin by opening your project diagram. Locate the component palette, positioned on the left side of the UI.

2. Hover Over a Component: Move your cursor over the component you want to know more about. As you hover, a tooltip will appear, offering valuable insights:

   • Component Name: The component's name will be displayed, aiding in quick identification.

   • Component Description: A description of the component's purpose and functionality will be included. This description is important in making informed decisions about its suitability for your architecture.

   • Component Icon: You'll see a visual representation of the component, providing an easy-to-recognize icon.

   • Component Risk Pattern: Information regarding any associated risk patterns will be part of the tooltip. 

For Trust Zones in the Trust Zones Category

1. Navigate to Trust Zones: Locate the Trust Zones category or section within the component palette on the left.

2. Hover Over a Trust Zone: Similar to components, move your cursor over a trust zone you wish to learn more about. A tooltip will appear, presenting the following details:

   • Trust Zone Name: The trust zone's name will be displayed.

   • Trust Zone Description: A brief explanation of the trust zone's purpose and role in your architecture. 

   • Trust Zone Trust Rating: The tooltip will display information about the trust rating of the trust zone.
