Restricting the use of a component in IriusRisk

If you have a component that is already being used in your existing threat models, but you do not want it to be used in new threat models, there is a simple solution in IriusRisk.

Firstly, go to the component list at Objects > Components and locate the custom component that you want to restrict. When you click on that component, the 'component definition' should appear on the right-hand side.

In the component definition, there is a checkbox labeled 'Visible'. This checkbox should be checked by default. To prevent users from being able to add this component to new threat models, simply uncheck the 'Visible' checkbox.

Once the 'Visible' checkbox has been unchecked, the custom component will not show up in the component search and users will not be able to add it to any new threat models. However, the component will still remain in any existing threat models where it is currently being used.
